Teacher Coaching

Great teaching is a craft, and like any craft it grows with practice, reflection, and good feedback. We help technical educators and the organisations they work for build the skills, habits, and systems that make teaching better over time.

We offer support for individual educators, code schools, academic institutions and organization's internal training and enablement teams.

Coaching for teachers

We work one-on-one (and in small groups) with technical educators to help them grow. Coaching is practical and tailored to the person: we look at what they're already doing well, where they want to improve, and we build a plan to get there.

This might include:

• Observing sessions and giving structured, actionable feedback
• Working through specific challenges - difficult groups, pacing, explaining hard concepts, keeping learners engaged
• Helping new instructors find their feet
• Developing facilitation, questioning, and assessment skills
• Building confidence and a sustainable approach to the work

Peer-to-peer feedback systems

The best teaching teams keep improving because they've made feedback a normal, low-stakes part of how they work - not a once-a-year performance review. Getting this right is not obvious.

We help you set up peer-to-peer feedback systems so your educators can learn from each other continually. This usually involves:

• Designing a lightweight observation and feedback process that fits your team
• Training people in how to give and receive feedback well
• Establishing the norms and psychological safety that make honest feedback possible
• Setting up regular rhythms - peer observations, debriefs, shared retrospectives
• Checking back in to see what's working and adjusting
• Training people on common pitfalls to avoid such as politeness traps, box-checking, broad and inconsistent focus and more

The goal is a team that gets better on its own.

How we work

Every team and every teacher is different, so we start by understanding your context and goals. From there we recommend an approach - this might be coaching, setting up feedback systems, or a combination of both. We circle back later to see what's changed and help you keep the momentum going.
